Because Swing turns so much and is so open, it is easy to move too much and get too far apart from one another. Try to keep your turning steps fairly small to avoid getting too much distance. That said it is the man's job to adjust his position to find the lady after her turn.
An Underarm Turn is best led from either of the two basics.
Because the step ends with an awkward hand position, it is best to follow it with and Underarm Turn Left to unwind again.
