Greetings Dancers for Dessert.

Some of you may have noticed that the site was unavailable for a few hours in the early morning of May 3rd, 2007. First of all we'd like to apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused, but we think you'll agree it was well worth it.

At this time we have added a couple of features to Dancing for Dessert. Some were minor, but the biggest differece you will notice is the *new* video player.

Previously, you had the choice of viewing the Dancing for Dessert instructional material through Windows Media or through Quicktime. While most cannot deny that sometimes two is better than one, the truth is that some people were experiencing compatibility issues with these players. Nothing we couldn't handle, of course, but it would be so much better if you didn't have to experience that in the first place.

Well we heard, we listened, and we've acted upon your suggestions! We've gotten rid of the Windows Media and the Quicktime; Dancing for Dessert instruction is now available exclusively via Adobe Flash (formerly Macromedia Flash). This is the *same* format used on sites such as YouTube and Google Video. The advantage to this new system is that regardless of your operating system or internet browser, you will be able to view the instructional materials with ease!!!

Having converted our system to Flash, we also have a degree of control that we didn't have before. Many of you have expressed how much better the Dancing for Dessert experience would be if you were able to loop the videos, as well as view it in Full Screen. Well, your wish is our command: our new flash videos now include loop and full screen functionality!!

Of course in order to get the best experience with our videos you'll need to be sure you are using the very latest version of Adobe Flash. If you're not sure you have it or need to get it, please click on the following link:

We hope you enjoy the new Dancing for Dessert. Please bear with us as there may be bugs that still need to be ironed out. If you come across any such bugs please Contact Us and let us know!

Happy Dancing!!

Andrew, Magda & Brian

New Blog Format

Greetings dancers. Welcome to our newly revamped News section. We have incorporated the same blog tool into our News and FAQ sections as we have in our Line of Dance section for more consistency throughout the site. We hope this will help you all find things a lot quicker and easier, and we also hope that this will encourage us to post more frequently! ;P

Below you'll find all of our past news articles. Don't be fooled by the "official" posting date, as we haven't yet figured out how to back-date postings through the blog interface (this may actually be a good thing ;p). To minimize confusion we've actually included the original publishing date for each of the articles below.

Rest assured, Dancers for Dessert, that we -- the powers-that-be here at Dancing for Dessert -- are constantly looking for ways to improve our site with your approval and satisfaction held as our number one priority!!! As we've stated many times we love getting your feedback and have even incorporated much of it into the site, showing off the good ones and working with the constructive critiscms to improve the Dancing for Dessert experience.

Please Contact Us if you have any positive feedback or constructive criticism. Happy Dancing to you all!!

~Brian A

Dancing for Dessert and Norton Internet Security

Some of our members have had some trouble accessing the DfD instructional materials. Upon closer scrutiny we found that these members were all using Norton Internet Security.

Our programmer looked into this and sure enough, the default settings on NIS was indeed blocking the DfD instructional materials. We have found two ways of addressing this issue:

Please visit our FAQ for further support. As always, we are at your disposal (Contact Us) if you are not able to resolve things on your own.

DANCE! 365 Days of the Year: Web-based Company Brings Romance Home

Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - Chocolate mousse and cheesecake move over - you'll feel more deliciously satisfied dancing for dessert. DANCING FOR DESSERT is an online dance instruction website ideal for those wanting to put the 'woo' back into 'whoopee'. In the wake of Hollywood movies such as Shall We Dance? and Dirty Dancing, Havana Nights, DFD is a portal to the essence of romance, intimacy and hot, sexy fun. Man, woman, young or old, DFD introduces you to the fun, excitement and romance of dance, right in your own living room.

Featuring the basic steps for dances such as Salsa, Tango, Cha Cha, Rumba, and Swing, DFD uses the internet to introduce and engage people in the fun and romance of dance. Andrew McIntosh, president of DFD first envisioned DFD while teaching on a cruise ship where tourists were constantly requesting a way to access additional instructional support after group lessons. With two friends (all three professional dancers), McIntosh devised a solution where individuals could access dancing lessons from their own home, at their own convenience and at their own pace with minimal cost. The result is the DFD website, offering new dancers an exciting and effective transition into the glamorous world of dance.

DFD believes that dancing is for everyone. It is not only a wonderful way for couples to connect with one another, but also a great way for singles to engage. The ability to move to music is something people are born with. And while many people think they were born with two left feet the fact is, with a little instruction and a little practice anyone can learn to dance to the music.

McIntosh notes that, "Dancing is all about the good things in life - music, romance and being happy together. We think cheesecake is really good. Chocolate may be even better. But Dancing for Dessert is as good as it gets!"
